Extraordinary Women Blog #9 – Making the Most of the Last Days of Summer
We’ve got about two weeks before Labor Day in the United States, which officially marks the end of our summer. In France, this time is called Le rentrée, when everyone returns from the august month of holidays with tan faces and a long school supplies list. Stop by a Gilbert Jeune shop in Paris, and you’ll see stressed parents holding long school supply lists with forlorn faces wishing for the beach.
How to make the most of the few weeks we have left in our summer? Have Fun!
Do exactly what you want to do for the last few weeks.
I love to plan and sometimes our plans have to get really short-term.
So plan out your next week or two to make the most of your summer.
Start with a list and then prioritize what is most important to you. Things you want to do, places you want to see, books you want to read, fresh veggies you want to savor.

Here is a few of mine…
- Swim at least twice a week while the weather is warm.
- Make a great corn soup with the last of the sweet corn on the cob
- Sit on my patio or deck and chat with family – or watch the sailboats in the Boston Harbor!
- Eat a fresh lobster roll
- Have a picnic or set a dining table outside
- Go to an outdoor concert
- Enjoy fresh from the garden flowers, fruits, and veggies
- Coordinate my sleep schedule with the sun, make the most of the light
- Watch some fun summer movies
- But we need a plan, right? There is nothing worse than mid-September arriving and not remembering how I closed out the summer.
